For those of you in the Ohio area you know it’s been on the warm side as of late. OK it does feel a bit like the flames of you-know-where are nipping at your heels but it’s July so it’s to be expected.
Over the weekend, my niece Ava spent some time at my house. Saturday we hit the pool for a cool off but Sunday she felt the pool just wasn’t going to cut it. What do you do when the circumstances can’t be beat? You join in. You make lemonade with your lemons.
Since the humidity and heat were way up there, I figured that it was like the Earth was one big convection oven and what else to do but bake. Yes, I know it sounds absurd but I figured these were the perfect conditions for rising dough.
So we set to making cinnamon rolls with a twist. Previously we had pondered how a cinnamon roll could get even better and what goes better with cinnamon than apples? We made the cinnamon rolls as usual but then while adding the butter, cinnamon and sugar we also added some apple pie filling.
It seems to be a big hit.
