The Kardashians aren’t coming to my house but my husband’s parents are. Due to some unfortunate circumstances in my husband’s family, my in-laws are coming to Ohio and John shared with me that his parents will likely come to Columbus to visit.
Huh, uh, what??? I just started this decluttering project, which means it’s still in the works. In case you are thinking, great you’ve been making progress you won’t have much to do to get ready for house guests you’d be so wrong that you couldn’t be wronger if you tried. (I know, wronger isn’t a word but this seems like a good time for hyperbole)
It’s a full blown s%$^ storm here in the abode of Swags and G. We are not neat and tidy folks, which is why I embarked on this decluttering project at the new year. And I have made progress, I have made a few trips to Amvets and The Salvation Army has done at least one pick up.

But it’s kinda like when you clean out the refrigerator, it gets worse before it gets better.
So what’s a girl to do to prepare for the yet to be determined date of familial arrival when it could be any day this week or even possibly next?
The first, it seems, is to have a full blown panic attack. I feel like I successfully achieved that, in fact, I may have outdone myself. When you have a special gift it’s important to highlight it.
The second is to make a plan. So I figure I need to just clean my house straight up. That will be no easy feat. Did I mention that we are not tidy people?
Then there’s the issue of our “guest room.” It’s not a guest room as much as it’s a loft with a full bathroom attached. We also have an exercise bike, massage table and a hydroponic garden growing up there right now. A garden that has an LED light that shines 18 hours a day. Not conducive for guests.
Lastly, there is the issue of my husband, who thinks everything is always fine, clean enough and who cares if there is cat fur all over the bed? That is code for him being absolutely no help.
Wish me luck and if you think of any magical ways to make my clutter disappear or clean my house, feel free to send me a message or SOS.

Just think how good it will feel to have it done! Good luck!

Yes it will!!! It’s really just me wishing I was a better housekeeper and organizer than I am. 🙂 But visiting is always good.
