Summer: Fun, Bikes, Challenges, and Books

Oh, Summer, it seems you just arrived but are already on your way out!

Fun Summer

Reese & Ava making candles

This summer, we are primed for more fun; who isn’t? Two weeks ago, the Ohio contingent of Lowi and G had the privilege of hosting Lowi’s youngest daughter, Reese, for the weekend. It was initially planned as a cousins’ weekend for Reese and Ava, our younger sister’s daughter. But the rest of us couldn’t help ourselves but join in on the fun.

There was candle-making, a breakfast outing, pizza night, and Sunday dinner. I even got the distinct privilege of weaseling my way into spa night, so I could put a mask on my face, lips, and even my feet. In fact, the foot mask would end up offering long-term effects in that the skin is still peeling off a week later. I have been a class act in my yoga classes.

Summer Reading List!

This is one of those books that I have heard about over the last few years but really didn’t know much about. It didn’t take long to see why it was a bestseller. When you mix a Hollywood starlet with seven ex-husbands who are ready to share her life story with a young journalist who seems to have been plucked out of obscurity, you get plenty of intrigue, mystery, and reasons to stay up late reading.

Loving My New E-Bike

Have you ever gotten something that you didn’t think you wanted or needed, and then you get it and wonder how you ever lived without it? Okay, I might have gone a little too far. I could surely live without this, but I purchased an E-Bike a couple of weeks ago, and I am loving it.

If you haven’t tried one, don’t knock it, and don’t roll your eyes and talk bad about me behind my back. I say this because I was 100% against the idea of an E-Bike.

About a year ago, my hubby wanted me to get a bike, and he suggested that I try an E-Bike.

Nope.

Pull-Up Progression

Do you remember when I said it might take me a year to do a singular pull-up? After a few weeks of working on my lat strength, I have come to realize it might take me longer than expected. I’m not sure what the takeaway from these last few weeks might be, but here are a few thoughts that keep running through my head:

Do I even have lat muscles?

Did I wait too long to attempt this challenge?

Do I just have too much body mass to actually pull myself up off the ground?

“If we were meant to stay in one place, we’d have roots instead of feet.”
