Inspiration Tuesday: More Laughter…

A couple of weeks ago I shared with you a random challenge I found on Facebook. It got some people talking and even came up in more than one of my personal training sessions and a yoga class that week.

If you missed it, the challenge was to pick up a piece of paper with your mouth, off the floor, while on one leg. You can see the full video and blog, here.

It took me a few tries but after taking off my sweatshirt and getting down to business, I got it done. You commit to the important things in life. However, one of the things going through my mind was, “Don’t bust out your teeth. You spent a lot of time with braces on.”

While I plainly stated I was not encouraging our readers to give this challenge a try, many of you good tribe members categorically ignored me. And, thankfully, I even got to witness one of you doing just that. Here is a video (I got permission to share) of my personal training client, Lorraine. She will be 70 in March, which makes this feat even more impressive.

It took her a few tries and she tells me she is working on doing it without the yoga brick assist but still… It’s awesome.

Later that week in yoga, one of my students, Steve, gave it a whirl. He hasn’t quite gotten there yet but I have faith that his wild streak and determination will get him to the finish line on this one. I mean, this is resume-skill material here, my friends!

And lastly, another of my favorite yogis commented on Facebook, “So…I know you said you weren’t advocating your readers to try this, but I very clearly, in my head, heard you yell, “do it!” So I closed my office door and got down to business. I came to the conclusion that I can’t even do this on both legs, let alone one.”

She says that now but I am guessing she’s tried it again after this so I’ll keep you posted with an update.

In the meantime, I have stumbled upon yet another crazy challenge. And no, I haven’t tried it even a little. But wow!
