Today we have another guest blogger, Sydney St. George. Sydney has been living in Nashville the last two years finding her voice and herself. Sydney is Lowi’s middle daughter and while she has been mentioned in many a blog, this is her first time writing her own story.
Be sure to check out her website at www.sydneystgeorge.com to hear her music.
A little over two years ago I moved to Nashville. I moved across the country at eighteen years old. Needless to say, a lot has happened between then and now; a lot of songwriting, a lot of maturing, a lot of finding out who I am and a lot of understanding how to pay my bills. Recently, I have had a lot of people ask me what I’ve been up to down here. I’m excited to announce that I will be releasing an acoustic music video today, this blog (which you’re reading) and uploading some of the songs I have been writing the last few years to Soundcloud. The last two years, I have purposely not released anything as to keep my focus on becoming an artist while not worrying too much about what the outcome may look like. I have read a lot of self-help books and done quite a bit of soul searching to get these songs and I am proud of that journey.
Now being down here has had a lot of twists and turns, which I will tell you about in later blogs, but I am loving life! I arrived here fresh out of high school, worked at the mall for 18 moths (while also juggling music), decided I wanted to just focus on music, then landed on a happy medium of working in a small boutique 20 minutes outside of Nashville and balancing my songwriting. Other than working and music I have made a lot of life-long friends (some not so life-long) and fallen in love with a Belmont grad who now produces almost all of my songs (you could say it’s mutually beneficial). I also added a puppy to my life last February, even after everyone warned me not to and told me how much work and money they are. I did eventually learn that (thanks mom and dad for helping me out). All in all, these past two years have treated me well and I am excited to begin sharing that journey with you.
XOXO,
Sydney St. George
