Life Lesson: Let’s Go Crazy!

Oh, we’re so sad. Prince has left the earthly plane and now what are we to do?
Let’s Go Crazy and wear our Raspberry Beret out of solidarity and remembrance. Let’s imagine the rain that’s falling today is purple and When Doves Cry it’s out of sorrow.
Many will remember him as the musical genius that he was.
But Lowi and I are children of the 80s and Prince spoke to us in a way an artist only can when you’re young and feeling called to be a little wild.
It wasn’t until the text messages and a phone call came tumbling in that I would’ve even consciously had that thought in my mind.
First my niece, Sydney, called. I was very excited to hear from her and then she asked me if I’d heard the news.
Not long after I was included in a group message with my college friends who have spent too many roads trips to count singing along with Prince. The grittier the song the louder we sang.
As my friend said “I feel like a member of my family has died. How truly sad.”

Lowi commiserated “Why do the good ones go too soon?”

We are often, sadly, left to ask that question.

But in true Prince fashion we turn to a song:

Dearly Beloved, we are gathered here today to get through this thing called life.

Electric word, life
It means forever and that’s a mighty long time
But I’m here to tell you
There’s something else,
The afterworld

A world of never ending happiness
You can always see the sun, day or night

We are, in fact, gathered together to get through life. We aren’t meant to go it alone. Let’s reach out for help when we need it and reach out to give it when called.
And most of all, imagine Prince in the afterworld seeing the sun, day or night.

Sunshine & Sarcasm,

Lowi & G
