(L) I have to say, it’s been a pretty uneventful week on the workout front. Just trying to keep my workouts going each day. There was a pesky little snowstorm that rolled in on Friday and foiled my outdoor activities, but by Monday it had melted substantially.
It may be April 19th, but we are still supposed to get snow today. While it’s been a relatively mild winter I am over the snow at this point. Bring on some warmer weather. Also, I think it may be time to really amp up my workouts. My 21 miles/week is not going to make the grade when it comes to actually running a race. Have I not learned anything the past year? I do not want to do the Slacker without training…again. That was not fun. So, working on my game plan.
During the snowstorm I started looking for weight lifting workouts on Pinterest. It’s not the first time I have done this, but it’s been awhile. Holy smokes there are so many choices and you can work out anything! Now I just have to decide if I want to do the beach body, abs and squats, or butt and gut workout!
(G): I want to begin by noting this is not a complaint about the weather. After running around in below-freezing temps and snow a mere 10 days ago I am happy the sun and spring-like weather appear to be more permanent visitors.
All that gratitude out of the way, OMG 82 degrees!!!!
Yep, that’s about what my body was saying, OK screaming, most of the day on Sunday. There is this transition period where your system realizes it has to run AND cool itself at the same time. And like most multitasking, some things go better than others.
In a few weeks, fingers crossed, it will start to feel a little easier.
In the meantime, I will have to suck it up like a good little buttercup.
I am in a bit of a weird transition period for the next few weeks. It’s like training while trying to recover as I am participating in Outrun 24 in about 2 weeks and another in mid-May.
This week I took it easy until Thursday and then it was time to get back at it.
My legs staged a revolt on Thursday, again on Friday, and well you can imagine how it went on Saturday and Sunday.
I did manage to collect 31 miles over four days and on the heels of our 50 miles the Saturday before I feel pretty good about it.
Rumor has it I may have a Hype Girl named Lowi for the May three-day race. It would be a lot of fun especially if my Hype Girl makes veggie burgers, ices my feet and makes a beer run at midnight to smooth out the rough edges.
Sunshine & Sarcasm,
Lowi & G
The Torture Report began in January 2014 as a weekly update of our journey to completing a 50-mile race. Since then it’s continued on to become a chronicle of how we try mightily to find fitness, health and sometimes the finish line. We aren’t always successful but we keep showing up and telling you all about it on Tuesdays.
