As part of my accountability I told G that I would do a follow-up blog to my sacred de-cluttering contract/plan that I put in place a mere 2 weeks ago. I have made A LOT of progress and I feel pretty good about Kim and Kanye arriving tomorrow. Of course, I was even happier when I realized I had all day Tuesday to prepare as well since they don’t arrive until the evening.
As true to my word, I have literally been giving my house an overhaul. Once I began I realized it was not something that could be adequately tackled in a matter of days. So, I have been pacing myself. On more than one occasion my kids have come home to find me standing behind a huge pile of things to give away.
What I love even more than getting rid of the clutter is that everyone is getting on board. In fact, my hubby who is already kind of a neat freak boxed up old paint cans and all of those bottles of things you can’t just throw away and is taking them to the appropriate dump site.
My girls have even asked if I could help them clean their rooms out. Can I? Are you kidding me, let me get my dump truck and back it up to the bedroom window! My oldest doesn’t know it yet, but when she gets home for a couple of weeks this summer her room is getting an overhaul. I mean she doesn’t even live here anymore. Why do we need to keep all of her extra clothes. I mean the prom dresses can stay, but the rest of it? GONE!
It may seem harsh, but the more I clean the more I want to get rid of things. Now don’t get me wrong I am sure I could still get rid of some things in my closet, but I am getting better at moving it out.
What I have tackled in the last 2 weeks: My closet, under the sink, girls’ bathroom, laundry room, medical supplies, silverware drawer, my nightstand, linen closet, half-bathroom and organized the office files (total nightmare). I have also conditioned the leather sofas, cleaned the stove and those darn ceiling fans.
I will let you know when I arrive at SACRED!
