(G) Johnny Armani likes to torture himself in his own way. He waits, intentionally, until the heat of the day to workout. Then periodically I get these selfies and check in messages.

Saturday and Sunday this week were my first serious foray into heat training this year. We got out at about 11:30 am each day and ran 10 miles on both. This girl is on FIYAH! And not in the Alicia Keys kinda way. The pictures really do say it all.

Ab Challenge Complete!
I did every challenge day in June and while there were many who posted before/after shots in the challenge I am not one of them (how crazy do you think I am?) But I do see my belly every day and I am here to tell you that it looks exactly the same. I do think my abdominals are stronger but my belly fat is nobody’s fool. It’s found a good home, it’s well fed, and it’s not leaving any time soon.
100 miles in June
Check! Beyond happy to say that I completed 100 plus miles this month. It was a good challenge to get my training restarted.
100 Pushup Challenge
Monday I completed the 100 pushup, 7-week challenge. The goal was to be able to do 100 pushups at once. I did 4 sets of 25 pushups with 30-second rest period between. I guess that’s not 100 pushups straight but I am happy with it all the same!
Challenges for July?
I am jumping into these fun challenges for July. Want to join in?
Plank Challenge
Squat and abdominal challenge

We had a Slacker Slumber Party Friday night in preparation for the half-marathon on Saturday. It was an awesome way to begin our weekend. I am happy to say that I completed the Slacker with my middle daughter, Sydney, and it felt great! It’s a beautiful race, with about 2,000 runners, and I can’t wait to do it again next year! And for those of you out there who are mathematically challenged…it’s a whole lot less than 50 MILES!!

Unlike G, I am about a week behind on my AB Challenge. I tweaked my back a little on vacation and I had to take a few days off. So, I will still be looking for my six pack abs as I move into July. I have been looking everywhere this past month with no luck. Perhaps they will be in the 4th of July parade?!?!
I also fell short on the 100 Miles for June Challenge. I was hoping I could borrow some from G??? I actually logged 91.5 miles, but just didn’t get it done. I told you Pocahontas was a Slacker!! So, because I can’t stand that I was a lousy 8.5 miles short of my goal, I am planning to run 108.5 miles for July! I am actually pretty excited because G will be here tonight and first thing Wednesday morning I am taking her to my happy running place for at least 6 miles! Oh, and G doesn’t know it yet, but there is a 4th of July 5K!! Yep, we are doing it!!
I will say that I am feeling a little less stressed since my race is over though. I can go back to a little more Insanity, Yogini, running and weights. I had been concentrating more on my running in preparation for this past weekend (clearly not enough to complete my challenge) and I was feeling like Pocahontas was getting pushed a little to the side. I was beginning to miss her but never fear, she is back in full force with new running shoes!!!

Tuesday’s Torture Report is a running log of our progress as we train toward fitness, specific races or our latest exercise-related obsession. Lowi’s working toward Becoming Pocahontas and G’s latest adventure goal is Howl at the Moon 8-Hour Ultra.
