I may have mentioned that I took a road trip to Nashville with my mom last week. For the most part it was uneventful. However, we got off to an unforeseen start with an ill-fated pizza ordering effort.
We were starving once we got to my niece’s house because our trip from Ohio to Tennessee with a dog was a long one. My mom searched on her phone for local pizza joints in Antioch, just outside of Nashville.
We found a place and I called to order a veganized pizza (you know, hold the cheese, meat etc). They said it would take an hour but after our 7 hours in the car we were happy to let someone else drive it to us.
Turns out for this pizza to get to us it would have taken a lot more than an hour.
But more on that in a minute.
First, picture my mom and me standing outside at the end of the driveway looking for the delivery driver because he called to say he can’t find the house.
He can find the subdivision but not the address. She lives in the 3000s and he was at the 900s.
Hmmm, what could be the trouble here?
After several minutes, OK maybe 10 or more of me attempting to guide said delivery driver around a city I don’t even know, my mom comes outside with her phone and her mouth open is shock to share that we called a pizza place in Antioch, ILLINOIS!!!
Yes, my friends it would’ve taken him about 8 hours to get that pizza to us. Think it would’ve been cold?
I sheepishly told the driver I’d made a mistake and he could head back to his workplace. Thankfully, about 30 minutes later the pizza place did call us back and refund our money.
So just when you think Google knows, it’s doesn’t know pizza.

Thanks for the great laugh! I guess you will need to do a follow-up to the book…
