Thankful Thursday: Right Place!

When you think you’re going to have a low-key day it’s important to be sure you are as clear with the universe what you mean. When I said “Low Key”, I was thinking laid back and relaxed. The universe clearly heard: Loki (Lo-Kee) Norse God of Mischief and Trickery.
You’re not familiar with Loki? Neither was I but we got acquainted this past Monday morning.
John and I were exploring Stringer’s Ridge in Chattanooga, Tenn. and we came upon a young woman yelling for her dog.

He had gotten away from her on a hike. I asked what the pup looked like and said we’d be on the look out.

She said he had a collar and her information was on it to contact her. We went on our way and about 10 minutes later, a black dog matching Loki’s description comes trotting down the trail toward us.
He came right up to us, let us pet him and we got his owner’s phone number from the collar. In the process, I let go of the dog who was sitting at the time and he decided to take off.
We proceeded to chase the dog on the trail and before long he was racing toward the trailhead parking lot and the surrounding neighborhood.

I ran down toward the parking lot, and John stayed behind to meet up with the owner who was running our way as well.

Eventually, we all met up and Loki’s owner went running down the street in the direction he had run a few minutes before.
I’d stopped running after him because I thought he was running from me and considered it a game.
In the meantime, John and I jumped into the car and drove up the street.

We found a couple standing on the corner talking and asked if they’d seen a black dog running around. They had and told us which direction he went.
We waived down Loki’s owner, Catie, and she jumped in the car with us!
We, thankfully, came upon another canine eyewitness, which led us on to Loki. He’d made friends with another dog and was just hanging out.
When he heard his mom/owner yell his name you could tell he knew he was trouble.

With Loki leashed and everyone’s heart rate returning to normal we all breathed a sigh of relief.

She was so happy to be reunited with her pup and we were relieved it all worked out. It’s nice to be able to be in the right place at the right time and lend a helping hand … or paw.
