I just returned from visiting my in-laws in sunny Key West. We had a relaxing time and enjoyed ourselves immensely.
Reality hit quickly as we returned. Our newly adopted pup, Stevie, had a little backsliding while we were gone. She had MANY accidents in the house while we were away. Who can blame her? She probably thought we were never coming back. She may have been living in much nicer digs than she had grown accustomed, but she was clearly still stressed.
We also had the empty fridge that goes with being gone for 2 weeks, no clean clothes and my oldest needed help moving out of her apartment in Boulder. My youngest also began reminding me that we were staring down the last 2 weeks of summer and the beginning of high school! Her nerves and mine were setting in as schedules are due out today!
I was beginning to feel my meditative vacation state disappear just like the tan I had managed to acquire over the last couple of months. While I can’t stop the back to school train or the growing list of things to do, I can decide how I want to approach this month. Instead of just giving in to the month of CRAZY I am planning to find myself a little each day.
What does that even mean? Well, I am not taking a backpacking trip to Europe to do some soul searching, although that is on my bucket list.
Instead I am choosing to find myself on the trail walking, running and working toward my 50K goal.
I am going to find myself in the gym working on my strength training.
I am going to find myself in the kitchen eating healthier and feeding my body what it needs to be at its best.
I am going to find myself at my desk working on my writing, coaching and getting organized.
I am going to find myself in bed getting enough rest each night so I have the energy to meet all of my goals.
And I am going to find myself each morning as I breathe deeply and express gratitude for another beautiful day.
How will you find yourself this month?
