It’s been a wild ride these last few weeks and I would venture to guess it has been no different for you. The holidays are full of family, friends, obligations, celebrations, rest, drama, guilt and joy. Phew! It’s not always easy navigating the crazy, but here we are on the other side of 2015 in a brand new year.
My hubby is back to work, my youngest is back in school and my middle caught a flight back to Nashville earlier in the week. My oldest is lounging at home for the week enjoying some peace and quiet before she tackles the other half of her junior year at college. She deserves it!
And my week? It’s like one long Monday. I have appointments, meetings, lots of catching up to do and not enough time to do it. However, I did take some time to reflect on our holiday during my drive home from the airport and you know what? It was pretty good.
On the very first night that everyone was home I had to retreat to my room to do some work. The next thing I knew I had 4 girls and a dog in my bed watching Netflix! Four, you ask? Yes, because when my girls come home there are bound to be extras. And you know what? I love every second of it.
It’s the moments that I look around and see the dishes piling up, the games left on the table, and clothes strewn all over that make me smile. These are the moments that stay with me and bring me the most joy.
So, yeah the last few weeks have been crazy, but they have been full of laughter, games, skating, singing, skiing, friends, food, movies and most of all…love.
My family may not all be together right now, but you know what? My heart is full.
