We go through stages of nostalgia remembering good times and events past and it’s easy to get caught up in the idea that all the “Bests” of life have somehow passed. But that’s far from true.
Think of all the amazing and fulfilling things that happen to us later in our lives. Many of us will, or have, become grandparents long after we were 20. Even our mid-life crises make us better on the far side. After we turn 40, we start to learn that we can’t do it all and usually don’t even want to and with that comes freedom. Joy usually quickly follows that. And I am hoping wisdom quickly trails in on joy’s heels.
For me, I certainly don’t want to look back and think that my high school or college days were the best of my life. While there were plenty of good memories, I would feel incredibly empty to think that’s it. But I don’t believe it’s true UNLESS you believe it’s true.
In the last two years I have had the opportunity to experience amazing highs that I never would’ve dreamed of or even been interested in when I was 20-something. Those moments would’ve been wasted on my younger self.
Awe-inspiring, jaw-dropping, tear-inducing days, glimpses and years are still awaiting you and me.

I’ve had some great memories and I hope there are lots more beautiful ones ahead
