Torture Report: Keep on Keeping On, Show Pocahontas Some Love

(G) Update: MWF still looking for her serious ultra mojo. May need to enlist a bounty hunter as my mojo, Lowi’s mojo and most especially our abs are proving to be an elusive gang. Attention: Dog the Bounty Hunter, we’ll be happy to let you search just please don’t offer our mojo or our abs a cigarette when apprehended. IMG_2922 While my mojo is still MIA, I have been able to locate the next best thing. It’s called: Howl at the Moon is 3 weeks away! Nothing like a little race-day looming pressure to get you moving. So with that I had a great week and had a weekend total of 25 miles on Saturday and Sunday.

One of the best things about Howl at the Moon and Kennekuk is their approach to the whole thing.

Challenge Restart Last week I told you that July 14 was the new Day 1 on my challenges. It was and it is. I am doing well staying on task with them and happy to be able to share that good news with you. That doesn’t mean there isn’t lots of whining that goes along with it. But persevere I will. And I don’t recall the “rules” of a challenge saying that complaining couldn’t go along with it so I will continue that as well.   Mileage Mania After my not-so-great start to the month I have managed to turn this possum back in the direction of awesome. I know it’s shocking, I can barely believe it either. I got back on the running for real and should hit 100 miles by week’s end. #Jully100miles will hopefully be a success. There is something weird about having that kind of goal in your head for 30 days and then starting over next month that really speaks to me. (L) The only thing that has been speaking to me is a bunch of kids needing me at all hours of the day and night!  Wow! I can’t believe it has already been a week.  I only managed 13 miles this week.  Another low mileage total, but as I said last week, I will persevere.  I have 10 days (including today) to get my act together and finish my 108 miles for the month.  I may need to run three times a day, but I will kill it! On a positive note, I have been working on my abs and upper body, which feels good.  They do like to feel needed now and then.  I just wish they would stop their whining and show me a little love.  Would it really hurt for my abs and upper body muscles to make an appearance? Pocahontas Update: IMG_4841 So, I am a couple months into my Pocahontas training and I am both excited and frustrated. Not that I was expecting anything dramatic to happen, I mean this is freaking hard work.  I put in a lot of miles early in the year for the 50 miler. Of course, I ran 50 miles and I still look like I lay on the couch and watch TV all day, while eating potato chips. There are some days when that is all I really want to do because it’s so depressing. Some days the only thing that keeps me going is YOU!  Seriously, I don’t feel like I can stop because I feel accountable to all of you.  After all, I did tell all of you that I would Become Pocahontas and G makes me write my portion of the Torture Report each week! I have to realize that not every day, week or even month is going to be awesome. We have times when our mojo gets lost, stuck, slows down or refuses to show up. I have been there off and on over this last month but I refuse to stay there. Let’s go people. Who is with me? I need some squaw support, here. Let me know you get what I am talking about by leaving a comment. And stay tuned as G and I are working on some Lowi & G Challenges for you, too!
