Pocahontas has been on vacation for the last week, but now I have returned home to get ready for the Slacker Half-Marathon.
Even though I was in Florida (can you say hot and humid), I still managed to get 26.4 miles in bringing my grand total to 67.4 miles for the month. Still quite a ways from my 100-mile goal, but I think I can squeeze it in!
I am a little behind on my Ab challenge, too, but who says I can’t complete my six pack abs in July? As Pocahontas says, “go where the wind takes you.” Sometimes the wind takes you to Disney for a 12-hour day and there is just no time for AB work!

So, back to the half-marathon… I signed up for the Slacker again this year. It really is a great race set in the mountains and did I mention it’s downhill? I am going to need every bit of that downhill advantage after being at sea level for 8 days! Ouch!
Back to the hard-core workouts!
I will be sure to post my Slacker Pocahontas experience here next Tuesday. Don’t’ miss it as it is sure to be a doozy!
(G) Good luck and prayers for wind at your back for Lowi this weekend at The Slacker.
My tri-fecta challenge report for the week is some good, some meh.
June 100 miles
The good is I hit my 100-mile mark for June 100-mile challenge. When I finished the last 10 miles on Sunday to get to 100 miles that felt like an accomplishment. I was struggling with mental focus and commitment after the 50-miler and having this goal was a nice way to refocus.
Hopefully it’s been enough of a boost because I do have a race in August.
30-day Ab Challenge
Here’s the thing with ab challenges. The first several days seem like a really good idea because the repetition numbers are low. Then you hit Day 20 or 22 and the “good” idea part starts to fade quickly. So far though I haven’t missed a day but my six-pack is still MIA.
Thankfully, for me I have a memory like a gnat because I have already proposed another challenge for July. We’ll tell you more next week.
Pushup challenge
Hmmm, so it’s week 6 into the pushup challenge and honestly.. what was I thinking? It is so hard some days. 100 push ups. Does anyone really need to ever do 100 pushups at one time. Will I ever be required to do this for a physical? A job interview? Will it make me a better person?
So far, the answer is no but it does make me question some days whether I can feed myself when I get done so I guess that’s a diet plan, right?
These 8 sets on training days are killing me I can tell you that. I will keep you posted on whether I can eek out 100 pushups.
I’m thinking I may need an assist, like extra arms or a lighter body.
Sunshine & Sarcasm,
Lowi & G
Tuesday’s Torture Report is a running log of our progress as we train toward fitness, specific races or our latest exercise-related obsession. Lowi’s working toward Becoming Pocahontas and G’s latest adventure goal is Howl at the Moon 8-Hour Ultra.
