Back to Selfies

In 2014, Lowi & G were going to get all professional and have our photos done. It’s not often that we’re in the same place so this was the perfect time.

We viewed our photographer’s work and we thought this will be easy peasy.

Here’s a sample of her work.

Sydney

Hopeful and all dolled up, we headed into the quaint community of Georgetown, Colorado to get some great shots. We loved all the local color that Alex (our photographer and Lowi’s daugther) showcased in her other photos.

It is January, but we’re ready, right?

We didn’t anticipate a windstorm, that possibly Alex’s other photos featured a 16-year-old beautiful blonde (another one of Lowi’s daughters), or that our hair would be less than cooperative in gail-force winds or even in the dining room. While out on location, we were trying to get a good shot and noticed that a bunch of people in the house across the street were pointing, laughing and graciously waving. Is it possible that they mistook the sister act for a couple getting some engagement photos done?

We’re not used to this kind of attention so we were depending on Alex to give us a confidence boost and some guidance. Unfortunately, that support came in the form of frownie faces, sighs and silence.

What does it mean when your photographer frowns and sighs or says … I don’t even know what to do?  Are we that bad off that we can’t even take one decent photo together? Have we hit that many branches on the ugly tree?

It was starting to get super discouraging. Then Sydney, our aforementioned beautiful blonde, stepped in to help out. She, too, quickly started sharing tips like, “you don’t know how to even work your hands, or smile. Umm, here look at me and make the face I am.” Just in case you are following along, this is not good advice or helpful. I am not sure in the next 10 minutes we can change our faces.

At this point, we are only feeling confident that #fail should be used next to our photos.

We took a break and headed out to pick up a pizza. A little sustenance can only help.
After our break, and laughing about how it went, we returned feeling better about the whole thing. And adding more rocket fuel to our rapid downhill slide, we find the photographer, model and the other gorgeous kiddos in the house giggling as they review our pictures.

Looks like a legit camera lens just can’t handle Lowi & G so we’re relegated back to the land of selfies! Whaddya think?

I love your blog. You looked like you were having way too much fun in your photo shoot. Just wondering how many bottles of wine were consumed!
    Good luck on your journey.

Shockingly, there wasn’t any alcohol involved. Thanks for your kind words.
