Eclipse day has come and gone. Where were you when it happened? Were you in the path of totality or were you in one of the crescent cities like me? Did you watch it? Please tell me you had glasses.
I’m not going to lie. I’ve seen an eclipse on more than one occasion and since it wasn’t going to be a total eclipse of my heart, I didn’t get glasses or make any plans to watch it.
In fact, that morning I read a couple of articles that suggested that since it was indeed an eclipse in my zodiac sign of Aries, that I should actually refrain from watching it. It said I should light a candle, meditate, pray and have a time of reflection rather than engage in the hoopla surrounding the eclipse. This resonated with me more than a dimly lit sky.

So, I decided to walk the dogs and run a couple of errands before my quiet time. Just as I was ready to leave the house, I noticed my phone wasn’t working. My immediate reaction was that the eclipse was messing with me. Upon further inspection I realized we had zero internet as well. You see, I live in a black hole and have approximately a 12 inch circle of service in one very precise spot on my deck. No internet means I am off the grid.
I sent a text to Andy asking how to reboot the router. Actually, I asked him where and what I needed to unplug in order to reboot the router and before you roll your eyes because everyone knows where the router is, please look at this mess and tell me you would know exactly what to do in this situation.
No response.
I went about my walk and errands hoping against hope that my internet would magically reconnect while I was gone, but my intuition is strong and I already suspected that my electromagnetic field along with the eclipse in aries was causing this problem. I know it sounds laughable, but I have been accused on more than one occasion of causing issues with my aura. I have a way of just touching things like cars and all the sensors stop working. It’s a superpower that is very unwelcome in my house. The list of malfunctions in my presence is long and it frustrates Andy to no end. Lucky for him, he has the Midas touch and everything works once he looks at it.
Anyway, I returned a couple of hours later to find…nothing had changed. Perhaps this quiet was preordained and I just needed to sit my butt down and reflect. It didn’t work. No amount of quiet reflection was restoring my internet.
It did, however, make me wonder if this was the new beginning the eclipse was supposedly delivering to your Aries girl. Was this fresh start so fresh that I was now off the grid? Was this my darkness and as soon as the eclipse was over, I would have a spiritual awakening that would also bring cell service and the internet back to my life?
I wasn’t sure what was happening, but I knew I had to solve this problem because the basketball national championship was going to start in 6 hours and Andy was going to lose his mind if he couldn’t watch his team in the final game of March Madness. I finally reached him and he walked me through the tangled web that is the center of his universe.
Nothing.
He literally said to me and I quote, “this is your electromagnetic field doing this!”
He called our internet company and they sent someone out right away. Don’t be impressed. This is a new, local company and they only work in this very small area that nobody else wants to serve apparently. These guys are our only option.
They assured me that they would have it working in no time. Four hours later we had a brand new cable run underground, three men present and one on the phone and you guessed it, we were the ONLY house in the entire neighborhood without service.
Cue the Twilight Zone music.
With 90 minutes until tip off, they left to try and fix it in a different area. Meanwhile, Andy grabbed some food and went to a friend’s house to watch the game. I continued to wait and they returned right about the time the game was supposed to start. No luck.
They told me that they found an area where rodents had chewed on the fiber and they surmised that this was the problem and while it was odd that it would only affect our house, they would return the next day to solve the problem.
So, I decided to go watch the game with Andy and our friends. Also, I wanted to see if I had any missed calls, messages or important emails that I had missed. Once I was within cell service, Carplay started alerting me of all my texts. I pushed the button to hear them. They displayed as being read on my LCD screen, but nothing. No sound except a faint whispering from my phone which was in my purse. Now I’ve had my phone disconnect from the car, but never partially connect one aspect and another work on my phone. I couldn’t make a call from my car or my phone. I contemplated turning around and just going home. Considering how the game turned out, perhaps I should have listened to my intuition.
I knew I should have just stayed in bed and let this day happen without me.
Honestly, I half expected to wake up the next day and for all of this to just have been a bad dream. Instead, I woke up to more of the same and let’s just say I had plenty of time to reflect.
Exactly 24 hours after the eclipse ended, my internet was restored. No explanation from the internet company, nothing.
Weird, right?
