If you are lucky, on occasion, a piece of music, a book, a phone call, or a lecture comes to you at exactly the right time.
On Wednesday afternoon, I took the time while out walking to listen to a presentation by Gabrielle Bernstein as part of the Sounds True Self-Acceptance Summit. Already you can see what kind of trajectory I’ve been on lately.

Within the first few minutes I was hooked. I had the feeling that I was meant to hear this lecture, on this day, in this space and time, and from her. How often do things align that well?

It seems like not very often but is it because life doesn’t align or we’re too busy to notice that it’s trying?

I am a serious work in progress so I am nowhere close to knowing the answer. However, let me tell you what I do know.

I know that it’s a load off your head and heart when you hear someone say out loud what you have been feeling for months.

I know in the midst of difficult times it’s hard to know if you are coming or going.

It’s hard to know what you think, what you feel, or otherwise.

Gabrielle offered many important tools to find your way but the ones that resonated most with me were that you first have to accept where you are in this moment to ever have the chance to move forward. You may not like where you are, you may hate it, you may go kicking and screaming, but you have to accept it.

And secondly, you need to pray. Whether you pray to God, the divine, the universe, or whatever word speaks most to you, you need to pray for guidance, for help, for resources, for courage, strength, or whatever you need at that moment. And if you are paying attention, it will show up for you.

And then you have to do the work and show up too.

Keep showing up for your assignment. Keep showing up for life. Keep showing up for the lesson no matter how painful.

Today, I am moving forward with acceptance, prayer, humility and I am showing up. I am not doing any of this perfectly but I am doing it. For right now, that’s all and that’s enough and it all arrived at the right time.
