Life Lesson: It Will Get Done or It Won’t

Next week is graduation for my middle daughter and as I have stated in previous blogs, I have had a long list of things to accomplish. My list consisted of cleaning out the house, organizing, invitations, party preparations, etc…My list did not consist of painting, cleaning blinds or windows, apartment hunting in Nashville and yet these things are happening right now as I type this. It’s ridiculous if you think about it. Who does this right before family arrives for a week? We do. In fact, we did some similar shenanigans 2 years ago when our other daughter graduated. It’s not about the party, it’s about having a deadline to work against. We do things well under pressure.
What I am realizing less than a week before graduation is it’s either going to get done or it won’t. There are some things that need to get done though, like the purchasing of food, drinks, plates and utensils. Things that would be done, perhaps, if I wasn’t painting my living room! So, today I am getting my head on straight and making a list of what absolutely has to be done.

All of the invites are out. If you didn’t get one…it’s the mailman’s fault because I sent it! The food is ordered, so come hungry. The paint is dry, don’t comment on the color. The blinds are shining bright, but the windows…blame it on the rain. Oh and let us not forget the apartment in Nashville. The roommate has been secured and the apartment is in the process of being rented.

While the list may be long and your time short, always remember that at the end of the day to enjoy the party!
