Since I am on the heels of my trip to Nashville I thought I would share a little gratitude. I went to Nashville with my middle daughter who was working on her music. I could be grateful for the opportunity to meet Diane Keaton who was sitting beside us in the airport, or having celebrity sightings such as Steven Tyler, Little Big Town and Maddie and Tae, but those were just perks. What I am really grateful for is the opportunity to see one of my daughters jumping outside the box and following her dream.

It’s not easy.

We have been raising our girls to be smart, brave, always do their best, and go after their dreams.  For many parents, that means teaching our kids to take risks (within reason), to do their homework, work hard in and out of school and get into a good college.  What if our kids decide to go in another direction? What if they are doing exactly what we taught them to do their whole lives, but it’s not the path we expected them to take? What if it seems risky and we know that they are going to have to work really hard and we don’t know how it’s going to look?  Then what?

Then we sit back and be grateful that we have a front row seat to watch journey unfold on the path less traveled.
