As we quickly move through the month of December, G and I thought it would be fun to revisit some of our favorite things that fell into the category of gratitude.
I can’t remember which holiday, birthday or event that I purchased G a meditation cushion, but it has been a hit. In fact, at this point in time I would like to accept any and all praise for ensuring that G is as mellow as she is. Okay, she is in no way mellow, but imagine what she would be like if I had NOT given her a meditation cushion? If you, or someone in your life, enjoys meditating or could use a hint that perhaps they should think about adding meditation to their life you might want to put this under their tree this year!
Since we are talking about G and things that are good for her I thought I would also share a Loving Kindness Meditation that I taught my little sister while she was visiting this year. I learned this meditation from Ann Marie McKelvey in a meditation class I took this summer. Here are the instructions:
Sit quietly with your eyes closed and the palms of your hands on your legs. For five minutes repeat the following four statements.
- May I now be filled with loving kindness.
- May I now be safe and protected.
- May I now be resilient in mind and body.
- May I now live with ease and joy.
I recommend that you do this for 5 minutes daily and see what changes you encounter in your life.
So, get out there, get your cushion and meditate your way through the holidays!
Mostly Sunshine,
Lowi
