“Gratitude: Affirming the Good Things in Life” by Melody Beattie is a collection of excerpts from her other books. Beattie falls into the self-help guru realm but not after having walked many miles in the shoes of struggle and recovery. All that to say, if you want to talk someone who gets gratitude, she’s your person.
If you are thinking about gratitude this month and would like a good read but can’t commit much time, this is quick but powerful hit.
Learn or be reminded of the principles of gratitude, nurturing yourself, practicing positive affirmations and goal setting. But most importantly it’s also about cultivating gratitude for who you are as a perfectly imperfect, flawed human. Finding the gratitude in that makes all the difference.
