“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.”
Melody Beattie
Gratitude does not solve all of our problems, but it makes everything more manageable. Is your life feeling out of control or less than? Try getting out your journal or a simple piece of notebook paper and start writing down what you are thankful for. Practice your gratitude daily. Research shows that if you commit to writing down your gratitude for 21 days you can increase your level of happiness.
In fact, “People who practiced gratitude for 21 days felt a full 25% happier – they were more optimistic about the future, they felt better about their lives and they even did almost 1.5 hours more exercise a week.” Emmons & McCullough (2003)
Who wouldn’t want that?
Here’s to being and having enough, finding acceptance, order and clarity, being home and finding friends.
