Free For All Friday! For “Kriyan” Out Loud

IMG_4658

I try really hard to find balance.  To workout.  To keep all the moving parts moving.  To keep the peace in my house.

I have been taking a meditation class since June and I really like it.  It helps me to stay focused and also to keep some perspective when the trivial tries to overtake my senses.

G and I decided to try a new meditation called Kriya Meditation.  You are supposed to do it for 40 days in a row for 9 minutes per day.  The trick is the position.  You have one arm pointed up and outward while the other arm is behind you pointed downward while seated in the lotus position.  Sounds easy enough, but holding your arms in that position for 9 minutes has proven more difficult than I imagined.(For more liberation kriya meditation details, click here)

The other thing that has proven difficult is the company that has decided to join me for these meditation sessions.  My three daughters have decided that they, too, would like to meditate with me in a group setting.  So, the first night we sat in a circle, assumed the position and proceeded to meditate…for about 3 seconds.  That’s when the laughter and jokes began.

It went something like this:

Are we getting zen?

Is this a zen circle?

Let’s call it a znircle!

Why are we pointing to the stars?

This looks like some kind of crazy worship circle.

Are we calling E.T. Home?

Are we waiting for the mother ship to come?

Are you sure we aren’t signaling for the aliens to come and take us home?

How long has it been?

My arms are tired.

Wait, what’s my back arm supposed to be doing?

Has it been 9 minutes yet?

The second night, the dog decided to get in on the action.

So, I think you are getting a sense of how difficult meditating is in my house.  I am not sure I will attain the peace, fresh start, focus or moment of zen that I was hoping for, but this znircle sure is fun!

Peace, Sunshine & Sarcasm,

Lowi & G

Thanks Lynn. Let’s definitely do lunch.
I think Lowi always has a much more interesting experience to EVERYTHING when you add in the three dynamic, fabulous and burst-at-the-seam personalities that are my nieces. Glad you are enjoying the blog. It’s been a real blast for us as well 🙂
