(A) For the love of humanity, spring has got to arrive and give a girl a break. If I spend any more time with my treadmill, people are going to start to talk.
It was a good solid week of training but as we mentioned last week the intensity and extent of focus is beginning to take a toll. But on Friday I realized I really had, at that point, 8 hard days left of training. You can do anything for 8 days, right?
So my mid-week training took a little mileage bump last week with my Wednesday running reaching a high of 12 miles. And a follow up of 6 miles the day after that was a windy, cold, rainy experience.
Saturday, I had high hopes that Sunday’s weather would be better so I ran my Sunday shorter workout on Saturday. The lack of sunshine, rain, snow and wind on Saturday made for a slow start. In fact, I managed to whip up some cinnamon rolls and did some work before I finally dialed it in for a 12-miler. But the rolls turned out great and Johnny Armani was pleased.
Sadly, Sunday rolled around and the weather was, what’s the word, umm fridgid!!! At 8 am it “felt like” 15. It’s March 30th and it feels like 15? Are you serious Mama Nature. LL Cool J told us that “Mama Said Knock You Out” but I didn’t know she meant knocking out the sun!!
While it did turn out to be a nice late afternoon I was already in too deep to change gears. Twenty-eight miles on the treadmill is a hot mess in every way possible. Thank God for Netflix and 24! (You can read more about my Netflix addiction here)
Shakira and her family hit the trails in Arizona this past week with lots of hiking and more than a few heights. She hit about 5 miles every day and soaked up lots of sun. (We’re jealous!)
As you can see from this view, we have every right to be a little jealous.
Mary has been preparing for a spring mission trip to the Dominican Republic ,but has still managed to get in some training. Way to go Mary!
(L) I found some mojo this week and managed to run 4 days and walk the other 3 days in the mountains. I am taking G’s advice and going with Relentless Forward Motion everyday. It works and is keeping me motivated. I can’t remember if I have said this previously, but I am hoping that my training at altitude will help me when I get to the race. Do you think that walking 5 miles at altitude equates to 10 miles of running at sea level? Yeah, that’s what I thought.
4 weeks and counting… actually it’s 26 days!!!!! EEK!!!

Tuesday’s weekly Torture Report is designed to keep all of you posted on the insanity of training for a race to celebrate G’s 40th birthday. The goal is 50 miles but we’ll see how it goes. To find out more on how this plan was set in motion, check out Lowi’s blog. If you missed the last Torture Report, check it out here.
