So, just the name “in-law” conjures up all kinds of negative connotations for people. However, our hubbies have defied the odds. In more than a decade, we have seen the blossoming of a “special” relationship we like to call The Bromance.
It all started about 9 years ago on a weekend trip to Vegas. G and I thought it would be so much fun to take in the sights, a little pool time, great food and perhaps a show. What we ended up with was the boys playing golf, drinking, gambling and being no-shows at the pool. This left us, sistas, with no choice, but to have manis and pedis, shop, eat, drink, lay by the pool.
Oh, they blathered on about each other and how smart, talented, and fabulous each one was. And then late one evening, while at the resort, G and I were enjoying a night swim with the full expectation that our spouses would join us. Then, after some time in the hot tub, we realized our “dates” apparently would rather be together than with us. There we were hanging out in a romantic locale with each other. Awesome.
The mutual admiration society has included John’s ongoing appreciation for Andy’s brainiac smarts. So much so that every year on Pi Day (yes, as in 3.14) John nags me (G) to text Andy and see if he is reciting Pi! Yes, I have to text Andy because, until recently, my rather tech-challenged husband did not text.
Andy even gets shout-outs during long endurance races, check it out here.
Since that fateful weekend, the boys have seen each other often and they never cease to enjoy themselves…without us. This past October was no exception. We were all in town for our sister’s wedding, which left the hubbies with time on their hands. They ended up spending the wedding day together doing who knows what, but this photo was our first indication that they had arrived at the church!
Happy Valentine’s Day,
Lowi & G
