Well, let me start by saying that I can’t count. I am not sure what I was counting a few weeks ago, but we currently have 12 weeks until D-Day. Perhaps it’s the miles we are logging that brought on the confusion or the anticipation was so great that I got ahead of myself? That won’t happen again as we are counting each and every day and training our little hearts out.
So, this week brought Jill onto the trail. Jill’s reaction to getting out and training in the snow? “My hips didn’t like trudging through the snow. I was hoping for 5, but I am happy with 3. Like Shakira says, ‘hips don’t lie.’”
Go Jill!
Mary hails from Atlanta, the home of the major 2-inch snow storm that brought the city to its knees last week. Mary still managed some outside running, but couldn’t even get to the track most days due to road closures. Let’s hope the sun stays out in Atlanta.
I didn’t log as many miles as the previous week. I have to say the back to back long runs kicked my butt last week. I was tired. According to G, our fearless leader, running when you are tired is the best preparation for our 40 for 40. So, this week, I am training through the exhaustion. And actually, I am not as tired as I was last week. Improvement? We shall see…I am only in town a few days this week and then my only option is the high country of Colorado. I might need to run in my boots!
G’s update:
In an effort to be less verbose about training than I have in previous weeks, I have decided to share some photos of my week. Enjoy!
12 weeks and counting!
(we mean it this time, we did the math)
So, we will leave you with these words of wisdom sent by Jill!
Tuesday’s weekly Torture Report is designed to keep all of you posted on the insanity of training for a race to celebrate G’s 40th birthday. The goal is 50 miles but we’ll see how it goes. To find out more on how this plan was set in motion, check out Lowi’s blog. If you missed the last Torture Report, you can catch up here.
