It’s a New Year and we are all wanting to make some changes.  Are you still hoping or are you actually doing something to create change in your life?

This week, I will be sharing some ideas about creating non-negotiables in your life.  What are non-negotiables?  These are things that we have created in our lives that MUST happen every day or on certain days of the week.  Some of you may be thinking that your entire life is negotiable and there isn’t anything that you have created that is non-negotiable.  Hmm.  I am pretty sure that everyone has something in their life that they have created that happens without fail.

For example, some of us must have coffee every morning.  Others of us absolutely have to run each and every day or we can’t function.  There all kinds of non-negotiables that we create:  our kids must wear a coat when it is 10 degrees outside, everyone must wear a seatbelt while in the car, I must have milk with my cereal or I must watch my favorite tv show every Wednesday night.

While some of these seem trivial, the reality is,

we created them

Therefore, we are capable of creating non-negotiables in our lives that make us healthier and happier.  What would you like to do everyday without fail? Perhaps you would like to meditate, but you aren’t sure how to turn it into a non-negotiable.

Spend just 5 minutes of your morning in solitude.  Try to focus your mind and sit in a relaxed state for 5 minutes.  Do this every morning before you begin the busyness of your day.  When you are able to start your mornings with peace and clarity your days will begin to have perspective and a sense of calm.   As a result, you will want to continue with this practice and it will become non-negotiable.

Is there a non-negotiable that you would like to have in your life?  Create just one. Start small.  Change will happen.

Peace & Gratitude,

Lowi
