The excitement of beginning this blog has been brewing for quite some time now. G and I have been having weekly phone calls for a month about the style, who we are and the message we want to convey. The task of simply sitting down and writing it, however, seemed daunting. We secretly wondered if it was too much to ask for it to be perfect, while we wrote about NOT being perfect? You get the idea!
Today, G passed along a beautiful article about being a little less sarcastic and a little more sunshine. It was so good that we even considered the possibility that we may be too sarcastic. Hmmm? Then I re-read our mission statement:
Our hope is to write and share about topics that speak to us and you in a way that’s honest and connecting. We are knee-deep in this road trip of life and the map was blown out the window many dirt-road miles ago — and we’d like some company. This site is a place to share the realness of life, the sometimes painful, and with equal frequency, sometimes joyful. We are stumbling forward toward living in as genuine, authentic and open way as possible. At the same time, we like to do that with humor, a dash, or sometimes a healthy dose, of sarcasm.
What I realized is that our goal with this blog is to have a little more sunshine. All of our lives can be busy, serious, painful, confusing and many of us are lost. There is joy if you look for it. Sometimes, we need a shot of sarcasm and humor to lighten the load.
We hope that when you visit us you leave feeling like you made a connection; that we get it. So, buckle up, pull up your big girl pants and let’s go have some fun on this journey together!
