Thankful Thursday: Love-ify Your News Feed

What you experience, you often exude. If we want to exude mostly things good, an easy first step is really cleaning house when it comes to your social media.

Recently, there has been a fair amount of commentary both in my Facebook feed and in casual conversation about the negativity shared so freely online. All this got me to thinking about hearing Gabrielle Bernstein say that she sets her Twitter feed to only serve her love. What I mean is she stopped following other Twitter accounts that consistently shared negativity and unproductive ranting or hate.

As many of you know, we are halfway through our 31-day intention adventure of Savoring Life. I’m sure that’s part of why this all got my attention and the dots were starting to get connected.

This has been percolating in my mind and so when I got up Wednesday morning and saw this it felt like a call to action.

  • Choose what comes to you.
  • Think about what you put out there.

When it comes to social media we have choices.

We can decide what comes through our news feed and if a Facebook “friend” or Twitter handle is consistently sharing anything but love and positivity, you have the option to change that.

I am not suggesting that we bury our heads in the sand and pretend that bad things don’t happen in the world. But bad occurrences and toxic energy are not always the same.

It’s a simple, maybe even silly thing, but it can make a huge difference. If you look at negative images, words of complaining all day long it’s likely that you’ll absorb that. But if, as best you can, you opt to surround yourself with love you’ll likely take that in.

We all throw around Gandhi’s quote “Be the Change” and we mean it but we also mean: You first. You go first holding your candle of light and love. You go first and lead the way. You go first and pave the road. Why? Because it can be scary to go out into the world armed only with love.

But it might just be a start to love-ify your news feed. See what happens from there.

All Sunshine,

Lowi & G
