Blow your arms off meditation aka Liberation Kriya
(G) I am a meditation junkie. I am willing to try, experiment, or OM with the best of them. So when I saw Gabrielle Bernstein’s latest venture of a 40-day liberation meditation I was fully willing to try. It’s a Kundalini Liberation Kriya and the kicker is that you essentially hold your arms out from your body, in a particular pose, for 9 minutes. In case you are wondering, 9 minutes is a LONG time. I want to keep it up for 40 days but my arms are either going to get stronger or blow off. I don’t know if I get anything out of it if I am so uncomfortable? What do you think?

No shampoo movement
(G) Everywhere I turn these days it seems I read, hear, or somebody is talking about no ‘poo as in no shampoo. I have been a longtime purchaser of organic, non-toxic shampoos and I’ve learned two things: there’s a lot of crap in regular shampoo and the good-for-you stuff is pricey. So when I heard about this crazy idea to use baking soda and apple cider vinegar instead I thought: Why not? The worst that can happen is that it’s awful the best is I save a lot of cash-ola. As of today it’s been a week since I started the experiment. I am still on the fence but not so much that I am going to stop just yet. There have been some good surprises. First, I have long hair and I never go without conditioner so I wondered how a comb or brush would make it through my hair without the real deal. Believe it or not apple cider vinegar really does work as a conditioner. My hair has been uber-easy to comb. Second, my hair dries way faster … not sure what that’s about but I like it. I will let you know next week what happens with this experiment. If you want to try, follow these instructions.
(L) Lowi, here and I must respond to both of these crazy ideas that G has come up with this week. First, I saw the meditation suggestion on Gabby Bernstein’s website and I thought, that looks uncomfortable and kept scrolling. G, on the other hand, called me immediately and thought I needed to do the Kriya for my own good. Let’s just say she felt that I needed a fresh start. I was totally down for that so I did it. Right now, 3 days in, I am ready for something fresh and it’s a new set of arms, people! This is crazy! Tomorrow, I am thinking about visualizing my arms up in the air while I breathe deeply. I’ll let you know how that goes.
Now about this shampoo thing. I have to be honest and tell you that G called me up about his clever idea as well. I didn’t bite. I have this thing about smelling good. Baking soda and vinegar do not meet that requirement. In fact, I won’t even scrub my floors with vinegar…because it smells bad! So, keep your baking soda and vinegar science experiment and I will keep my shiny, store-bought bottles. What about you? We’d love to hear if you are willing to give it a try.
