There is a path …

4.16quote

This quote makes me think about the upcoming race.  We have plans and goals, but we are on this side of the mountain.  I don’t know what to expect, but I know in my mind what I want the path to look like for me.

We are days out from the Outrun 24 Hour Trail Race and I am a mixed bag of emotions. I am a little anxious, but mostly about getting everything ready and packed and not so much about the event. I am emotional thinking about being with with my sister and friends and working toward our goal of 50 miles. The people are what make this worth it for me. When I visualize it we are running, laughing and enjoying the spirit of why we came together to do the race. That gives me a sense of excitement and peace.

I want to be present for every second of our time together whatever comes our way. I want to be satisfied at the end of the 24 hours that we came, conquered and did the best we could on that particular day. I hope that our best is 50, but at the end of the day I don’t know what the mileage will add up to. We may be slow, but we are a stubborn group. When we decide to do something it’s difficult to convince us otherwise. I know we won’t want to stop until we reach 50.

So for now I will rest in the knowledge that ready or not we are in this together.

Sunshine & Sarcasm,

Lowi
