L&G Morsels: Family love, soufflé, freak-out to zen out!

L&G Morsels

LIFE

(L) Having all three of my girls around for spring break…LOVE! Listening to them laugh, sing and of course, fight with each other is music to my ears. At least for a week.

(L) Seeing my parents through my kids’ eyes. It’s just love, fun and excitement. My kids are not little, so I have watched the hilarity unfold numerous times. My parents arrived this week to spend some time with us. The girls have been so excited to see them and they were absolutely giddy on the drive to the airport. The first evening did not disappoint as my mom shared many of her favorite phrases and stories that left me crying and my kids tweeting. You just can’t make this stuff up folks.

New and old stuff we love

(L) OK, I know I have already shared my love for Lush’s Karma Kream, which is a fabulous lotion, but I have another lotion that I am in love with now. Hey, there aren’t any rules here at Lowi and G and even if there were…we make them!

Plus, I live in Colorado and you can never have too many ways to moisturize your skin.

I am IN LOVE with Origins Ginger Soufflé Body Lotion. It smells so good and leaves my skin soft for hours. If you haven’t tried it, you must check it out. Beware though if you actually go to the Origins store as the soft scent and free samples will have you returning before you can say…soufflé!

(G) While Lowi is all about love with kids home for spring break and our parents visiting I am finding my center.

I am apparently all about cultivating zen. After my mini freak-out a couple weeks ago about our upcoming race/adventure, I really got serious about my meditation. One of the most important things in ultras is being able to manage your mind. Once you’ve quit in your mind, a DNF is not far behind.

I have recommitted to my serious student ways and these lovelies are keeping me on the path.

Zen essentials

First order of business was getting my mind quiet. I am an entertainer and experimenter of all kinds of meditation, but I will never totally give up guided meditation with Kelly Howell and Brain Sync. For me it hits just the right chord. It has nice relaxing ocean waves with subliminal affirmations or true guided meditation. Both have helped me when I first started meditating or when I just need a kick-start. I have been meditating in the morning and right before bed for about 2 weeks and it has made a huge difference most especially improving my sleep.

Post-it page tab thingies (OK that is not their official name but that’s what I call them.) I love these things. I am reading “The Power of Intention” by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer and as you can see I am finding some post-it worthy items. This is why, for books like this, I still love a real book.

Of course, having a newly freshened up meditation space makes all this time in lotus (I’m not really in lotus) even more enjoyable and inspiring. So I moved my space into my bedroom, gave it a little dusting (always needed) and re-energized items. Every day when I sit down it reminds me what I am working on and what’s important. Mostly that is to BE HERE NOW!

My new meditation space and my fave meditation cushion from Lowi.

The third, and arguably most-needed element to all this monkey mind madness, is my meditation cushion. Lowi was kind enough to hook me up with this and I love it. Do you think she was trying to tell me something then? Oh well, every day I sit in meditation I am thankful to her that I have it. Go get yourself one.. it could make your whole meditation.
