We have been on vacation. We weren’t on a sight-seeing, early morning to late night activity filled vacation, but an unplugged, no TV, relaxing kind of vacation. The kind that begins and ends each day with listening to the water splash on shore.
Re-entry has been slow. It took me three days to even begin my laundry and I have had rum punch with every meal (except breakfast, of course). I even cut up a pineapple into little wedges for the side of my glass. I am desperate to hold on to that little slice of heaven.
Over the weekend, I began making my “to-do” list for the week and I could feel the stress of everyday life begin to seep in. I paused and thought about the summer stretched out before me and decided that I was going to let vacation linger; I was going to intentionally weave this state of relaxation into our summer. Obviously, I can’t sleep in and lounge around in the sun for hours, although that does sound glorious. Apparently, I have to engage in real life, but there is nothing wrong with bringing a little island time to each day.
So, if you need me you can find me outside in the yard, in my car with the windows down, playing a board game in the evening, or just barefoot on my patio breathing in the summer air and letting vitamin D do its thing.
